Bob Oelberg has been a registered landscape architect for 22 years, and has been practicing landscape architecture in the High Country since 1994. Before that, he was a senior project manager at the Alexandria, Virginia office of LandDesign, Inc., where he worked for eight years. He received his Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia in 1985. Bob is registered to practice landscape architecture in North Carolina and Virginia. He is also a licensed North Carolina General Contractor, although he does not build houses professionally. He is currently Chairman of the NCBOLA Continuing Education Advisory Committee, which advises the NC Board of Landscape Architecture. Bob lives with his wife, Katherine, in Boone. He is active at St Luke’s Episcopal Church, and is a board member of Wilkes Vocational Services, a workshop for handicapped adults.

Robert N Oelberg ASLA PA is a North Carolina registered professional corporation, which was started in 2000. The company went dormant between 2005 and 2008, when Bob worked as VP of Planning for the Ginn Laurelmor Resort near Boone and Blowing Rock. Re-inventing RNO ASLA PA, Bob is realizing a dream of many years to show clients their proposed landscapes via fly-through movies, as well as through conventional plans.

Green Building is a personal as well as professional commitment. Bob and Katherine recently completed their own ‘green home’ near Boone and Blowing Rock. With extensive input from Katherine, Bob drew the plans and was general contractor for the project. The house was built according to guidelines of the NC Healthy Built Homes program. They will be applying for certification later in 2009, once the proposed solar hot water collectors are up and running. Bob has been an active member of the High Country Homebuilder’s Green Building Committee since its inception in 2008.
